Tuesday at Camp Taiwan
Campers woke up to another gorgeous day here at camp, and by now everyone is settling nicely into the rhythm of camp life. Tents are comfortable, faces are more familiar, and campers are finding their groove with new friends and counsellors.
The beautiful weather has stuck around, so we've been keeping a close eye on sun safety — hats on, sunscreen reapplied, and water bottles topped up throughout the day to keep everyone cool and hydrated.
Camp activities today included:
Blue Team: Sports, Crafts, and River Tracing
Red Team: Crafts, River Tracing, and Catapult Games
Green Team: Catapult Games, Giant Swing, and Sports
Orange Team: Giant Swing, Sports, and Crafts
Gray Team (our teens) went big with the Giant Ladder, Zip Line, and Cooperative Games
One highlight of the day was our Wide Game: Battleship! All of our youth campers were divided into two teams for a fun, competitive, camp-wide challenge that had everyone engaged and active. This expansive game is modelled after the classic Battleship board game, and adapted for 50 kids travelling all across our camp. The first team to sink the opposing team’s fleet of ships wins!
It was awesome to see campers working together, cheering each other on, and giving their best effort at every activity.
Tonight brings one of the highlights of every session — our first Night Game! Campers will be buzzing with excitement as the sun goes down and the games begin. The game is called King Me and involves campers challenging the opposing team’s castle with playing cards to see who gets the upper hand.
As usual, there is a link to the Dropbox folder with pictures of the day below. If you are not sure what team your child is on, start with the tent pictures folder. When you find your child, note the color of the lanyard on their name-tag — that is their team color. Most of the pictures will be in that team's folder or in the whole-camp activity folder.
