It has been another fun day here at Camp Taiwan. While it hasn't been exactly sunny, we have had only a light scattering of rain for a short time here and there. The weather adds a little bit of adventure to the trip.

The campers started their day bright and early at 8 am with a hearty breakfast. After that, we continued with our rotation activities. Both groups had the same activities, although they did them in their separate groups.

Giant Swing- This is one of the favorite activities here at camp. As the name suggests, campers are pulled up into the air by their group-mates. They can decide exactly how high they want to go, and they get to pull the release themselves, launching them into the air.

River tracing- We have a small river (stream) that runs through the camp. They all put on protective gear, a lifejacket, helmet, and booties and trek up the stream a few hundred meters. It is not far, but there are several pools along the way where they can stop to do some activities, including a small waterfall and a natural water-slide at the end.

Sports - We try to include sports that people probably have not played before so that everyone is starting from the same place. Today we played a game called pillow-polo. It is a lot like hockey, but it is played with a soft ball and sticks with big soft ends. It will all make sense when you see the pictures.

For the final activity, all the students played one big game together. The game is called Happy Happy Joy Joy. Teams are set up on opposite sides of the field with some flags that they must protect. Members can then cross the line to capture the other team's flags, but they risk being caught. Once caught, they have to crouch down until someone comes across and saves them by linking arms and walking back to their own side of the field singing "Happy Happy Joy Joy" hence the name. It's a bit silly, but a lot of fun.

After a long day, they all returned to their tents to take showers before dinner. They are just finishing up now, and then we will have our evening program. Tonight, we have our party night. Counselors and teachers will set up booths like those found at an American carnival or a Taiwanese night market. Campers get to wander round and test their skill. The night usually ends with a lively dance party.

That is all for tonight. See the pictures at the link below. Remember to download the ones you want to keep.
