It has been a bit of a wet day here today. We did anticipate that and we arranged to have as many of the outdoor activities on Monday and Wednesday as possible. There were some outdoor activities for each group, however. We are keeping their spirits up with hot chocolate. Actually, I have to say that the kids have been excellent about maintaining a positive attitude and seem to be having fun despite the rain.
Today, we had the full 4 activity periods as described yesterday. The groups had the following schedule:
Year 5 Pink Team: Archery, Crafts, and Cooperative Games
Year 6 Gray Team: Zip Line, Cooperative Games, and Archery
Year 7 Green Team: Crafts, Archery, Zip Line
Year 8 Blue Team: Cooperative Games, Zip Line, and Ecology
For the fourth period, we had a wide game. Usually, this is an outdoor game that involves all the students. However, because of the weather, we changed to an indoor game today. We played a series of relay games in which members of the various teams compete against each other.
The campers have had a chance to take a hot shower and are currently having dinner. After dinner, we will have a party night. In this event the counselors and teacher set up a variety of carnival style games. The campers are free to mingle with friends while the counselors and teacher play teachers play the role of carnival barkers. We turn up the music and turn down the lights. In the last 20 to 30 minutes, we have a dance party. It is always a lot of fun.
That is all for tonight. Here is a link to photos. Because of the rain, there are fewer photos today. The indoor activities do not photograph as well and the counselors are much busier when it is raining, so it is not always practical for them to take photos. I believe some of the teachers have been taking photos independently and will share those photos in another forum.
A final note about pictures. For the privacy of your children, the link to the photos will be removed from the blog and the blog password will change when the next group arrives at Camp. However, the link itself will remain active. If you copy and save the link, you should be able to access it in the foreseeable future.
By the way, the link should allow you to access the photos without requesting any access. If you are trying to download the photos and Dropbox asks you to sign in, you can just click the "download only" link under the sign in box.
