The weather gave us a bit of everything today. It was quite pleasant when the buses arrived and stayed nice through lunch. We did have a short shower after the rest period, but after that it settled into the familiar foggy, slightly damp weather that’s common here in Taiwan. That is workable since everyone has a raincoat, and we were able to run all scheduled activities without issue.
The camp day is organized into ninety-minute activity periods, with campers rotating through in groups of about 12–13. You can identify your camper’s group by the color of the lanyard on their name tag—photos are organized by those team colors. Once you find your camper, they should be in the same folder for the rest of the trip.
Today’s schedule was as follows:
The Red Team started out with archery and then moved on to zipline after lunch. The Green team began with the zipline, and then they got their feet wet river tracing in the afternoon. The purple team had river tracing as their first activity, followed by tie dye in the afternoon. They will all be coming home with a nice new shirt. The orange team will also have a new outfit. They had tie-dye as their first activity. After lunch, they got to test their nerve on the Giant Swing. Blue team began the day strong with the Giant Swing right after they arrived. In the afternoon, they worked on their cooperation, communication, and strategizing skills with cooperative games.

For our final activity period, we brought everyone together for a whole-camp game of Rainbow Tag. Campers are divided into teams and given colored bandanas to wear hanging from their pocket or waistband. Each team begins at its own home base. Once the game starts, campers move around the field trying to capture players from the next color in the rainbow sequence by pulling their bandana (for example, red chases orange, orange chases yellow, and so on). After making a capture, both players return to the captor’s base, where a counselor uses a face-paint marker to make a stripe on the captor's arm. The player then continues on to chase the next color. It sounds easy, but it becomes more difficult as it goes along because campers don’t always know who might be chasing them. The winner(s) is the first person to get all the colors of the rainbow.
The campers have now had time to shower and are currently enjoying dinner. Afterward, they’ll spend a little time writing in their journals before we move into the evening program. Tonight’s activity is our campfire, where counselors will lead songs, games, and an interactive story. We’ll wrap up the evening by roasting marshmallows and making s’mores.
That’s all for today. Please check the link below to view photos from today’s activities. Keep in mind that access to the blog is only available for a limited time, so be sure to download any pictures you would like to save.
