The Grade three trip to Camp Taiwan is off to a great start! The weather was warm and comfortable all day—just the right temperature for outdoor fun. Though the sky stayed mostly cloudy, we were lucky to avoid any rain, and all activities ran smoothly as planned.
After getting settled in and meeting their counselors, campers jumped right into the day’s adventures. At Camp Taiwan, campers are divided into color teams of around 12 to 15 kids. These teams rotate together through a variety of activities, tackling new challenges side by side. For example, while one team might be climbing on the rock wall, another could be exploring nature in our ecology program.
Here’s a peek at what each team did today:
Blue Team took a deep dive into the natural world with an ecology session, before taking a thrilling ride on the giant swing. They finished up their rotation activities scaling the rock climbing wall.
Brown Team spent their morning sharpening their aim at archery, climbed to new heights in the afternoon, and wrapped up their day learning navigation skills in orienteering.
Gray Team started their day climbing, then explored the outdoors with an ecology lesson before finishing strong at the archery range.
The highlight of the afternoon was our all-camp game: Infection! It started with just one camper as “it,” and with each person tagged, the number of “infected” players grew. The goal? Avoid getting caught and be the last camper standing. It’s fast-paced, sneaky, and tons of fun for everyone involved.
After the excitement, campers had time to shower, relax, and enjoy a well-earned dinner. Right now, they’re unwinding with some journaling and getting ready for our first campfire of the session. We’re looking forward to an evening full of songs, skits, laughter—and of course, marshmallows toasted just right for s’mores.
We’ve uploaded today’s photos to Dropbox. You’ll find folders for each team and one for the all-camp activity. The link is open, and there’s no need to request access. Just a reminder: the password to this blog will change when the next group (school) arrives, so be sure to download any photos you want to save.
