The campers arrived this morning full of excitement and curiosity. For many of them, this was their very first Camp Taiwan experience, and their energy was contagious. It has been overcast and a bit on the warm side, but it is nice that we have been able to stay dry all day.
If you’re new to how camp works, here’s a quick rundown: Campers are divided into small groups—today we had three groups of 12 to 13 kids. Each group rotates through different activities throughout the day. Here are the activities scheduled for today:
Ecology: After a short introduction to local plants and wildlife, campers grabbed nets and went exploring. They discovered butterflies, dragonflies, lizards, beetles, even some shrimp and fish. It was a fun way to learn through hands-on discovery.
Bouldering: This is similar to rock climbing, but much closer to the ground. Campers practiced climbing without ropes while their teammates acted as spotters, learning trust and communication along the way.
Frisbee Golf: After a quick tutorial, campers worked in teams to complete a course by hitting targets with the fewest throws. It was a great way to practice teamwork while exploring different parts of the camp.
Games: A classic part of every camp trip. With such a young group we play simple, high-energy games.
We wrapped up the day with a brief closing ceremony. We acknowledge that the campers the progress the campers have made and give an award to the winning team. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to spend the day with your children. We’re confident they’ll be heading to bed happy and tired tonight!
Want More Camp Taiwan?
If your child enjoyed their stay at Camp Taiwan and you want a bit more, there are a couple of options.
Summer Camp
We have weekly sessions of our regular English summer camp in July and August and our Mandarin program from June 7th to 11th. Summer camp is a great opportunity for kids to develop confidence and independence by trying new things in a supportive atmosphere.
Family Camp
Family Camps are a way for the whole family to share in the fun and adventure of Camp Taiwan. Groups of 10 to 15 families ( Minimum 40 people) book the whole site and come share in the activities that your children have been telling you about. It is a great way to get to know the families of your child's classmates or your coworkers.
