Welcome to Session 7 at Camp Taiwan!

Buses rolled in to Camp smoothly this morning, and we want to say a big thank-you to all the parents who helped get everyone here on time and ready to go.

Once campers arrived, they got settled into their tents, unpacked, and started meeting the rest of their tent-mates. From there, teams dove straight into icebreakers and name games — always a favorite way to learn each others' names and get friendships started. Because this session, like last week's, is on the smaller side, our counselors get a real chance to know each camper well, and campers get to know each other quickly too.

Before the day's activities kicked off, every tent group sat down together for camper orientation, talking through what to expect this week and signing the Camp Taiwan Community Standards and Behavior Agreement. Keeping camp safe, positive, and respectful starts with everyone being on the same page from day one — you'll find a photo of each tent group with their signed agreement in the photos folder.

A quick note for families new to Camp Taiwan: each day is broken into four 90-minute activity blocks, and campers rotate through them together with their color team.

Here's where each team started today:

Red Team: Cooperative Games (short group challenges built around teamwork)

Orange Team: Archery

Green Team: River Tracing

To close out the activities today, all our campers came together for this week's first Wide Game — Relay Games, a string of challenges that kept everyone moving, lasting about 15 minutes each.

By the time showers and dinner rolled around, it's safe to say everyone had earned both.

We'll wrap up Day 1 the way we always do — with the opening campfire. Counselors have songs and games lined up, and the night ends around the fire with s'mores for everyone.

If you're not sure which team your camper is on, start with the tent photos — find your child, check the color of the lanyard on their name tag, and that's their team color. From there, most of the day's pictures will be in that team's folder or the "whole team activities" folder.
