A Beautiful Day of Activities in the Mountains and by the Sea!

Regarding Typhoon Dolphin, we are still monitoring the situation. The weather currently looks good through Friday, and if we have to end this session early, we will inform everyone as soon as possible. The counselor hunt after dark last night was a blast. The teens and youth campers do the night games together, so each group was a mix of older and younger kids. The counselors hide in strategic spots so that some of them can be found very easily, but finding others can be a real challenge.
Today was our routine phone call day, where your child's counselor makes an effort to reach you by telephone. In general, everyone is doing fine, so if the counselor didn't speak with you, we will try to follow up by email later tonight.
The weather was great throughout the day. It has been sunny and hot, and we have not had the afternoon rainstorms that we often experience here in Wanli. We are taking special care to remind kids to apply sunscreen and drink plenty of water.
Today, the teams had the following schedules:
Red Team: Giant Swing, Climbing, and Archery Orange Team: River Tracing, Table Top Games, and Cooperative Games Blue Team: Ecology, Cooperative Games, and Climbing
Green Team: Crafts, Frisbee Golf, and Table Top Games
Pink Team: Sports, Archery, and Frisbee Golf
The teens (Gray Team) had another big day today. They went to the beach for their kayaking trip and got to paddle in the ocean and play a variety of beach games. They brought several kayaks, body boards, and water toys with them and took turns paddling and playing in the water. As there is a typhoon a few days away, the waves were slightly larger than usual, but the weather was perfect and everyone had a safe and refreshing time.
The youth campers spent their last afternoon period playing a wide game. Today's game was Survival where campers are split into groups of herbivores, omnivores, and carnivores. Each group starts with a different number of “lives,” and the herbivores work to complete missions while staying out of reach of the other two groups.
Tonight we will have our movie night. Watching a movie on a big screen in the fresh mountain air is always a fantastic experience. We put carpets down for the kids to sit on and serve popcorn to make it as much like a theater experience as possible.
