Last night's night game was a lot of fun. The campers played the role of various classes of animals (herbivores, omnivores, and carnivores) and had to find hidden stations with water, food, shelter, etc. all while the herbivores tried to avoid being caught by the carnivores. The campers really seemed to enjoy it.
The game must have really tired them out because the tent areas were still silent at 7:00 am. This is normal at camp. For the first day or two, the campers are up at the crack of dawn, but after a day or two, they get used to sleeping in the tents and tired from full days of activities.
Once we got everyone up and fed, we carried on with our rotation activities. The campers had the following schedules.
Red/Pink Team: Climbing, Archery, and Pond Play
Blue Team: Archery, Pond Play, Table-top games
Green Team: Pond Play, Table-top games, Cooperative games
Orange Team: Table-top games, Cooperative games, Climbing
You might be wondering what Pond Play is. We have small pond here at camp, and the kids and counselors play a number of water games in there. It is only a small pool, about waist-deep for the smallest campers. They also play with a Slip-N-Slide. If you don't know what that is, check out the photos. You can't miss it.
We had an outdoor wide game scheduled for our fourth period of the day. Towards the end of the third period, we got some pretty heavy rain, so we moved inside for indoor games for both teens and youth campers. Although we got quite heavy rain for a short time, we didn't get the heavy thunder and lightning that Taipei got.
The Gray Team (teens) had a big day today. They had their trip to the beach for a bit of kayaking and some beach games. This is one of the highlights of teen camp and they all came back looking happy. The trip to the beach takes the whole morning, so they get back just in time for lunch. In the afternoon, they had a period of crafts before joining the youth campers for indoor games due to the rain.
Tonight, we will have our movie night. This is a long-time Wednesday night tradition here at Camp Taiwan. We serve popcorn and try to make it as much like a theater as possible. Tonight’s movie is The Parent Trap, a beloved classic that follows twin sisters who were split up when their parents divorced. They unexpectedly meet at summer camp and come up with a clever scheme to reunite their mom and dad
That is all for now. Don't forget to check out the photos for Day 3
