TES Year 4 Transfer Day

Today was a camper transfer day, so we had two classes of campers going home and two classes of campers coming in.

When the first group got up in the morning. I didn’t hear any reports of problems during the night. They came up for breakfast and then went off to their first activities. The Red Team was scheduled to have climbing, but we moved them indoors and did cooperative games for the first period. The Brown Team had zipline, and the Pink Team had archery.

Meanwhile, the second group arrived, and we got them settled into their tents during the first activity period.

Because of the rain, both groups met in the dining hall for indoor activities during the second period. Campers from each team took turns competing in short challenges against one another. Then all the campers had a big lunch together.

After lunch, the second group went down to their tents to unpack their things, get a little more comfortable, and have some free time, while we held our closing ceremony for the first group.

For the afternoon periods, the teams had the following schedules:

Green Team: zipline, archery

Grey Team: archery, river tracing

Purple Team: river tracing, climbing

The zipline is one of the highlights of Camp Taiwan’s activities. Campers step off an 8-meter-high platform and zip along a 130-meter cable to the far end of the campus before returning to the landing area. River tracing is another favorite activity. The funny thing about river tracing is that campers love to complain before they do it and while they’re doing it, but in the letters we receive, many of them later say it was their favorite activity. We take them up a small river that runs through the camp, where they have a chance to sit under a waterfall and play games in the pools.

Everyone has now returned to the tent areas to shower and get warm and dry before coming up for dinner. After dinner, they’ll have some time to write in their journals so you can understand what they did during the day. Then we’ll have our campfire program, singing fun songs and playing silly games before ending the evening by roasting marshmallows for s’mores.

Below is a link to a Dropbox folder with photos from the day. Photos are organized by team color, so once you find your child’s team, that’s where their photos will be. You will only have access to this folder for a limited time, so please be sure to download any photos you wish to keep.
