The weather at camp has stayed cool and overcast, with only a bit of light rain here and there—just enough to remind us it’s summer in Taiwan but not enough to slow us down. Last night’s movie was a big hit with the campers, striking just the right balance to entertain kids of all ages. Everyone seemed to enjoy the chance to relax after an active day.

Today, the teams rotated through their scheduled activities:

  • Red Team had climbing, archery, and pond play.

  • Pink Team had archery, pond play, and table-top games

  • Blue Team had zipline, table-top games, and cooperative games.

  • Green Team had table-top games, cooperative games, and climbing

This is the first time we have talked about pond play. We have a small cement lined pond and the campers play a variety of games with the counselors. They finished off the period playing on the Slip-N-Slide, a large plastic mat with air-filled bumpers on the sides. It is sprayed with water and campers can run and slide along it.

The Gray Team (teens) had the reverse of yesterday's schedule. Those who didn’t go to the beach yesterday packed their bags and headed out for some fun by the water. The teens who went to the beach yesterday stayed at camp to challenge themselves on the Giant Ladder and practice their navigation skills in orienteering.

To wrap up the afternoon, we brought everyone together—both youth campers and teens—for our Water Wide Game. Counselors set up a series of water-themed game stations, and the campers rotated through them in groups. At each station, they competed against other campers or faced off against a counselor. The winners earned a splashy reward: a chance to soak the losers! After rotating through the stations, we wrapped up the activity with an all-camp beach volleyball game. Campers gathered on two sides of a line and worked together to keep an enormous beach ball in the air. Every time the ball hit the ground, that side lost a point. It was a lively, laughter-filled way to end the day and cool off at the same time.

This evening, we will have our Party Night. This is one of the most anticipated events of the week. The counselors dress up and run game booths, just like the ones you’d find at a carnival or a night market in Taiwan. Campers use their tokens to play games, win prizes, and have a blast with their friends. Later in the evening, the lights go down and the music turns up for an all-camp dance party—an unforgettable night that campers will be talking about long after the week is over.

That is it for tonight. We’re looking forward to another great day tomorrow and hope the cool weather sticks around to keep things comfortable for our campers’ outdoor adventures. Please see the link to the pictures below.
