I won't lie, it has been a little wet today, but not so much that we couldn't have fun. The buses arrived around 10:40, with overcast skies, but little rain. We got everyone organized and sent them off to their first activity. We schedule our day around four 90-minute activity periods, but because of the arrival time we only have three on the first day.
After lunch, we sent everyone down to their tents with their luggage to get settled in. They then have a bit of a rest period.
There was heavy rain during our second activity period, so we changed to an indoor activity. We split the group into 10 teams and auctioned off a number of items, which the teams could buy with tokens. After purchasing their items, they then had to design something to keep an egg from breaking from a 2.5 meter drop. Four teams were successfully protected their eggs, which was pretty impressive.
Campers then went to their final activity period of the day. Unfortunately, it began raining again, but they get to take hot showers immediately after the last activity period, so they will be alright.
After showers, we will have dinner and then our campfire program. All of these activities will be inside, so your campers will be warm and dry when they go to bed. We are hoping for drier weather tomorrow. All in all, despite the rain, it has been a great day.
