Camp Taiwan Core Activities

We have certain core activities that most campers try at some point during their stay. Other activities, such as crafts or sports will vary from week to week or from year to year. Below is a description of our core activities:

Giant Swing is one of our special attractions. A camper is suspended from a cable about 2.5 meters above the ground. The other campers the pull on a rope to take them to the top of the swing. Campers can go as high as they wish before pulling the release let them swing. It takes a bit of courage, but it's great fun.

River tracing is a popular event in Taiwan, but people from abroad may not be familiar with it. There is a small stream behind the camp and we follow it upstream. There are several pools along the way where they can play various games. The campers all wear special river booties, life jackets, and helmets. The stream is actually not deep enough for there to be any danger of drowning, but the life jackets provide some padding if someone falls down, and it also adds to the sense of adventure.

Zip-line is another of our Camp Taiwan favorite games. Camper climb a pole to a small platform approximately 5 meters above the ground. They then clip into a trolley and slide 150 meters along a cable.

Climbing: We have a 15 meter climbing wall. Campers get basic instruction on how to wear the climbing harness and the commands between the climber and the belayer. They then have the choice of climbing the wall or the cargo net. If they choose this activity as one of their free choice activities, they can test for progressive levels.

Archery is a staple activity of every summer camp in North America. Their first time at the activity, campers are given the basic safety instructions for the range and an overview of the fundamental techniques. Like with climbing, if they choose archery for their free choice activities, they can test for certain levels.
