It has been a great day, despite a bit of rain. The campers arrived all smiles and we rushed them to the dining hall for a bit of a snack and orientation. We then packed them off to their first activities.
We normally have 4 activity periods in a day, as well as a rest period, and a night program. On the first day, we only have 3 periods. The groups had the following schedules.
Year 5 Pink Team: Zip Line, Climbing, and wide game
Year 6, Gray Team: Climbing, Ecology, and wide game
Year 7, Green Team: Cooperative games, Giant Swing, and wide game
Year 8, Blue Team: Giant Swing, Crafts, and wide game.
If you want to know more about the activities, you can check out this post here, which gives a description of some of our more common activities. (Not all of the activities on the page are on the schedule for this trip.) Wide games are games that all the groups play together.
Right now, that campers have all had their showers and are eating dinner. After dinner we will have our evening program, which is a campfire tonight. Because of the rain, we will do some indoor activities and we have a fire under a shelter where they can roast marshmallows and make s'mores.
Although the weather has been a bit wet, the campers have had a very positive attitude so far and seem to have had a lot of fun. As long as the campers remain positive, everyone will enjoy themselves. If you speak to your campers, please focus on the good things and not on the rain.
Here is a Dropbox link to today's photos. Please note that there was a bit of a compatibility issue with the grade 5 photos. I am trying to find a way to convert them.
