Day two at Camp Taiwan has been as good as the first. It has been beautifully sunny here all day long, and we finally have the cooler fall weather.

The campers woke up bright and early, as tends to happen on the first morning at camp. They came up to breakfast at 8, and had about an hour to eat and get ready for their activities at 9. We continued with our regular activity rotation, and the groups had the following schedules.

  • Purple Team: Giant Swing, Archery, and Climbing

  • Pink Team: Ecology, Giant Swing, and Archery

  • Yellow Team: Zipline, Ecology, and Giant Swing

  • Brown Team: Crafts, Zipline, and Ecology

  • Red Team: Orienteering, Crafts, Zipline

By the way, if you want to know a little more about these activities, some of them are described here: https://www.camptaiwan.com.tw/activities

Our last activity period of the day was the always-popular water wide game. The entire camp was split into four groups and they rotate through a series of wild, water-filled challenges, sometimes competing against the counselors and sometimes against each other. There was plenty of splashing, laughing, and cheering—it’s the perfect way to wrap up a sunny afternoon at camp.

After the games, everyone headed back to their tents for a well-earned shower before dinner. The campers are now enjoying their meal and will spend a little time writing in their journals before the evening fun begins.

Tonight’s event is Party Night! Counselors and teachers will transform into carnival hosts, running booths with games inspired by American fairs and Taiwanese night markets. As the evening winds down, the lights dim, the music cranks up, and the whole room turns into one big dance floor. It’s always a highlight of the week and a memory that campers talk about long after camp ends.

That is all for tonight. See the link below for pictures of the day. By the way, tomorrow, we will post a link to all the photos of the entire trip. Be sure to check back to get that link. Remember to download the ones you want to keep because the access to this blog will end when the next school group comes to camp.
