We woke up this morning to a pretty foreboding weather forecast. Given the circumstances, we have been incredibly lucky. It was pouring rain up until a few minutes before the kids arrived, but it slowed to a sprinkle as the buses pulled in. It has been gray and overcast, but the rain has held off for the rest of the day. The forecast for tomorrow is slightly better than today, so we will keep our fingers crossed.

The campers are divided into groups or teams of 12 to 13 people and assigned a color. They then rotate through a schedule of activities as a team. The teams had the following activities today:

Group 1/Blue team: Zip line and Ecology

Group 2/Pink team: Archery and Zip line

Group 3/ Yellow team: Climbing and Archery

Group 4/Green team: Orienteering and Archery

Group 5/Orange team: Crafts and Orienteering.

The photos are arranged by team. You will have to look through several folders to find your child today, but they should be in the same folder for the duration of the trip.

We set up two routes on the climbing wall today. One is the basic level, and the other one was a harder route with a bit of an overhang. That is quite a challenging route, but a number of campers in each group made it to the top. For Orienteering, the camper have to follow directions to find a series of clues. After they find all the clues, they can figure out the password to open a secret box. I won't tell you what is inside. If you want an overview of some of the core activities at camp, you can check out this link.

For the final activity period of the day, the campers played a wide game. A wide game is a game that all the campers play together. The game today was infection. There are one or two campers that are designated as patient zero. when they catch someone, they are infected and can infect others. It begins slowly, but it picks up speed as there are fewer and fewer uninfected campers. The last uninfected camper is the winner.

The campers have showered and are just finishing dinner now. Soon they will begin our opening campfire program. We gather round, sing a few songs, play a few games, and of course, roast marshmallows for s'mores. That is all for tonight. Below is a link to a Dropbox folder with photos. You should be able to view and download these pictures without needing any further access, so there is no need to join Dropbox or anything.
