It has been a fun and action-packed day here at Camp Taiwan. The buses arrived right on time and we got all the campers checked into their tents. The weather has been perfect so far today, not too hot and just a bit of clouds to soften the sun a bit.
We usually have two 90-minute activity periods in the morning and two periods in the afternoon. Because of travel, campers had one 90-minute activity period left before lunch. The group is divided into teams of about 13 people who run through the activities together on a rotational basis. So while the Red team is doing archery, the blue team will be doing crafts, and so on. For today, the teams had the following schedules:
Red Team: AM Archery, PM Zipline
Green Team: AM Zipline, PM River Tracing
Purple Team: River Tracing, PM Crafts'
Orange Team: AM Crafts, PM Giant Swing
Blue Team: AM Giant Swing, PM Cooperative games.
If you want to know more about these activities, you can check out this post here: https://www.camptaiwan.com.tw/activities
For the second afternoon activity period, all the campers played one big game together. The game today was called Rainbow Tag. Campers are divided into groups and given a bandana in the color of the rainbow, which they put partly in their pocket so that the end is sticking out. They then have to capture other people's flags in the order of the rainbow. (Red has to catch orange, orange has to catch yellow, etc.) When they catch someone of the appropriate color, they have to take them back to their base, and a counselor will put a stripe of that color on their arm. They can then move on to catch someone of the next color. The winner is the first person to have a stripe of every color of the rainbow on their arm.
The campers have all showered now and are just finishing their dinner. After dinner, they will have a short period to write in their journals before we start our evening campfire program. There, we will sing some songs, play some games, and of course, roast marshmallows for s'mores.
Below is a link to a Dropbox folder with some pictures of the day's activities. Please note that the password to this blog will change when the next group arrives at camp. However, the Dropbox link will remain active for a while longer. Therefore you should download any photos you wish to keep or at least save the link. Want More Camp Taiwan?
If your child enjoyed their stay at Camp Taiwan and you want a bit more, there are a couple of options.
Summer Camp
We have weekly sessions of our regular English summer camp in July and August and our Mandarin program from June 7th to 11th. Summer camp is a great opportunity for kids to develop confidence and independence by trying new things in a supportive atmosphere.
Family Camp
Family Camps are a way for the whole family to share in the fun and adventure of Camp Taiwan. Groups of 10 to 15 families ( Minimum 40 people) book the whole site and come share in the activities that your children have been telling you about. It is a great way to get to know the families of your child's classmates or your coworkers.
