The campers arrived at camp this morning full of energy and expectations. This is the first trip to camp for many of them and they are certainly an eager bunch. The weather has been perfect; warm to hot with a bit of cloud cover and a breath of wind.

For those of you who are new to camp, this is how it works. The campers are broken up into groups of 12 to 15 campers. In today's case, 3 groups of 12-13 campers. They will then rotate through a series of activities. today, they had the following:

Ecology: Campers are given a brief introduction to the plants and animals they might find around camp and then turned loose with a net. Campers found all sorts of things, loads of butterflies, a lizard, dragonflies, beetles, fish and shrimp, etc.

Bouldering, which is the same as rock climbing, but they never get more than a few feet off the ground, so they don't need a rope. Instead they have a partner or two that spots them by holding up their hands in case they fall.

Frisbee Golf: Campers get a brief instruction on throwing and catching a frisbee. They then have to work in teams to see who can hit a target in the least number of throws. They follow a course, which not only gets them to work together, but also introduces them to the various areas of camp.

Games: The campers play a series of team games. This is a staple activity for all the trips to camp. However, as the campers get older, the games become more complex and require a greater degree of strategy and teamwork.

We finished the day with a quick closing ceremony and shuffled all your children back onto the bus. It rained for just a short time as we were preparing to board the bus. Thank you all for allowing us to host your children. We are quite sure that they will sleep well tonight.

Want More Camp Taiwan?

If your child enjoyed their stay at Camp Taiwan and you want a bit more, there are a couple of options.

Summer Camp

We have weekly sessions of our regular English summer camp in July and August and our Mandarin program from June 7th to 11th. Summer camp is a great opportunity for kids to develop confidence and independence by trying new things in a supportive atmosphere.

Family Camp

Family Camps are a way for the whole family to share in the fun and adventure of Camp Taiwan. Groups of 10 to 15 families ( Minimum 40 people) book the whole site and come share in the activities that your children have been telling you about. It is a great way to get to know the families of your child's classmates or your coworkers.
