We couldn’t ask for a better day, weather-wise, than today. It’s been hot and sunny with a bit of a breeze—perfect weather for water games, but more about that later.

We wrapped up the last of our regular rotation activities this morning. The teams had the following activities:

Red and Pink Team (combined): Zipline and River Tracing

Orange Team: Ecology and Archery

Blue Team: Giant Swing and Ecology

Green Team: Sports and Zipline

Now that the regular rotations are complete, we’ve moved on to the next phase: free choice activities. Campers receive a list of six activities from which they can choose three to do this afternoon and tomorrow. Some are activities they’ve already tried and loved, while others are brand new. This week’s options are archery, climbing, pond play, shrimping/ecology, crafts, and frisbee golf.

For climbing and archery, campers can choose to take a skills test and earn a sticker for each level they pass. Climbers must identify essential equipment, tie a few basic knots, and reach the top of the wall without resting or falling (they’re on a safety rope, of course). Archers need to know the parts of the bow and arrow, string and unstring a bow, and achieve a certain score with five arrows.

Pond play is exactly what it sounds like. We have a small pond here at camp that’s just about waist-deep for our smallest campers, but large enough for all kinds of water and swimming pool games. On a hot day like today, simply getting in and splashing around feels amazing.

In the afternoon, we had our water wide game—a splash-filled mix of relays, challenges, and lighthearted competitions, all involving water. From quick races to silly team tasks, everyone ends up laughing and soaked. It’s a fun, energetic way to cool off and the perfect grand finale to a summer afternoon.

Tonight, we’ll end the day with our weekly Party Night. Counselors transform into carnival hosts, running a variety of games inspired by both American carnivals and Taiwanese night markets. Campers use tokens to play as many games as they can, winning more tokens or sometimes losing them all. If they lose everything, they can visit the “bank” to earn more tokens by completing a challenge or task. As the night goes on, the lights dim, the music turns up, and the dining hall becomes a high-energy dance party—always a highlight of the week.

That is all for tonight. Please see the pictures at the link below.
