The morning started off great. It was relatively cool at night, which makes it more comfortable for sleeping, and it stayed cool in the morning. We had our first rotation of activities. The Green Team had climbing, the Blue Team had Giant swing, and the Orange Team had sports. I think I mentioned that we are playing pillow polo the other day.
Unfortunately, it began to rain just as we were changing activities. We got everyone into the Dining Hall and boy did the rain come down. We stayed in the Dining Hall and played Table Top Games. That is normally one of our rotation activities, so we just adjusted the schedule so that everyone did that today. Everyone had fun and it is all part of the adventure.
It seemed like it was going to keep raining with possible lightning after rest area, so we returned to the Dining Hall and played organized relay games. This wasn't really part of the scheduled activities, but we sometimes have to make adjustments for the weather. Safety is the most important thing, and the kids still had lots of fun.
(By the way, although we are in the mountains, we are not in a location that is prone to any kind of landslides or other dangerous situations as the result of a heavy rain. When there is lightning in the area, we move to indoor activities. We always make your children's safety our first priority. There is no reason to worry.)
By the final activity period, there was just a slight rain, so we went back to our regular rotations. The Green Team had climbing, the Orange team played sports (pillow polo), and the Blue Team had water games. We have a Slip-n-Slide that is great fun and we play a variety of other water games as well.
The campers have showered and eaten dinner. We are just getting ready for our weekly Movie Night. Tonight we are watching Soul. It is a Disney animated movie about a band teacher who gets a chance to help people. We set it up in the dining hall and make popcorn. Half-way through a busy week, it is a nice opportunity for the kids to unwind and relax a little.
That is all for tonight. Please be sure to check the pictures for today.
