We are getting to the end of our week here at Camp Taiwan. We continued with our free-choice activities today, so everyone is doing their own thing. We hope you are able to find the pictures of your campers in the activity folders.
The options for today included archery, in which campers have the chance to test for level one or level two archer. They also had the opportunity to test for level one or two climbing. In addition, they could choose zip line, pond play, bugging and shrimping, and river tracing. Altogether, they could choose 4 of the 6 activities.
For their final activity period, the campers write and practice a skit to perform at our closing campfire tonight. Each color-team presents a skit and the one that is judged the best gets the coveted Oscar sticker on their sticker card tomorrow.
Besides the skits, our campfire features a couple of rituals that wrap up camp nicely. It allows campers to reflect on the week and the friends that they have made. We also sing a couple of traditional songs and finish the evening roasting marshmallows and making s'mores.
A couple of quick housekeeping notes: When you pick up your campers tomorrow, please remember to park in one of the nearby parking garages and leave the yellow lines on the curb so that we can park our buses to unload the campers. Pickup is at 3:00 pm. Don't forget to bring the yellow pickup card you were given when you dropped off your camper.
