The game last night was a lot of fun. In the beginning, the campers were no match for the counselor in the middle with the flashlight. But after a little practice and some creative strategy, they were sneaking thing right out from under the counselor's nose.

It has been another nice day here at Camp Taiwan. Again, we haven't had the sunshine, but we haven't had the heat we usually get this time of year either. It has been a good trade-off so far.

Once everyone was up and had breakfast, we jumped into our activity rotations. Here’s what today looked like for each team:

  • Red and Pink Team: Climbing, Archery, and Pond Play

  • Blue Team: Archery, Pond Play, and Table-Top Games

  • Orange Team Table-Top Games, Cooperative Games, and Climbing

If you’re wondering what pond play is, it’s a favorite here at camp, especially with the younger campers. We have a small pond—shallow enough for even our youngest campers—where kids play a variety of counselor-led water or pool games. After a while, they get out of the pond and play around on our Slip-N-Slide. You’ll definitely spot it in the pictures!

We switched our schedule around a bit and played our water wide game today. We usually do this on Thursday, but we are not sure the weather is going to cooperate with us tomorrow and we really didn't want the campers to miss out. The water wide game is a series of challenges or games that involve a lot of spraying and splashing. It is a great way to cool off. The last 30 minutes or so were spent with a big all-camp ball game. The campers lined up on either side of a line and hit a giant beach ball back and forth. If it touches the ground, the other team gets a point.

The Gray Team (teens) had a full day. We split them into two groups: half of them spent the morning at the beach kayaking and playing games on the sand—always a highlight of teen camp—while the other half stayed behind for a turn on the Giant Swing and Crafts. After lunch, the groups switched so that everyone got to experience both.

Tonight is movie night, a Wednesday night tradition we look forward to every session. We pop popcorn and do our best to recreate the movie theater experience. Tonight’s feature is Wall-E, the heartwarming animated film about a lonely robot who embarks on an interstellar adventure and discovers what it means to care for others. It fits in with our space and science theme and is a classic movie that the kids are sure to love!

Important: A quick note about the weather. We are aware of Tropical Storm Francisco to our east and are watching it closely. We are expecting rain tomorrow and Friday. Please rest assured that we put your children's safety first and we will continue to monitor the situation. We will send further updates as necessary.
