As you are aware, it has been a bit of a wet start to camp, but it has really been better than we expected so far. We have had just bits of light rain throughout the day, and it hasn't stopped any of our activities so far.

After we got to Camp, we got everyone settled into their tents, unpacked, and made their beds. Then we spent the rest of the morning playing name games and ice breakers to get everyone familiar with each other.

We had a big lunch of spaghetti, a rest period, and then moved into our afternoon schedule. We normally have four 90-minute activity periods each day, during which the campers will rotate through activities. For example, while the Blue Team is doing archery, the Orange team might be climbing. The Orange Team could then move on to Archery, while the Blue Team may go to a session of Crafts. Today, the campers had the following activities:

Red and Pink Team (combined): Sports and Crafts

Blue Team: Crafts and River Tracing

Orange Team: STEM and Giant Swing

Gray Team (Teens): Climbing and Cooperative Games

If you want to know more about some of these activities, you can learn more about them here: https://www.camptaiwan.com.tw/activities For the STEM activity, they made a cool glider out of two loops of paper taped onto a straw. They start by making one from the instructions with exact dimensions. Once they have the general idea, pairs of students make a second glider, this time with the freedom to change certain variables such as the width of the loops or the length of the straws. They end up having a contest to see who has the best design.

At the end of the activity periods, they all had a chance to take a shower and get ready for dinner. They are just finishing up their dinner now. When they are finished, they will have a bit of time to write in their journals before we start our opening campfire. We will have some skits performed by the counselors, play some games, and sing some traditional songs. Of course, we will also end by roasting marshmallows and making s'mores.

That is all for tonight. Please be sure to check out the pictures of your campers. If you don't remember what team you child is on, start out with the tent pictures. They will have a colored lanyard on their name-tag. Then you can look in the appropriate folder for the activity pictures.
