We began our day with the last of our regular scheduled team activities. Red team started off with pond play, and then they dried off for Table-top games. Orange team began with archery and then got to cool off with Pond Play. Light blue team had cooperative games before challenging themselves with the climbing wall. Green team started out on the climbing wall first thing before trying their hand at archery.
After lunch, the youth campers began their free choice activities. As I mentioned yesterday, this is where they get to try their favorite activities a second time. So as you look through the photos, in addition to the regular team photos, you will have to look through additional photos in activity folders to find pictures of your children.
For our final activity of the day, we played our traditional Thursday, water wide game. This week we played Gold Rush, in which campers have to find pieces of gold (ball-pool balls) that are scattered around camp and get them back to their base. The tricky part is that there are counselor police officers patrolling with water guns. If a counselor shoots a camper, they have to drop their gold and go find other gold. The gold can then be picked up by another camper. It's always a lot of fun and a great way to cool off on a hot day.
The teen campers (Purple team) also had a big day. They had their big-river tracing trip in the morning. This is another one of the things that sets teen camp apart from youth camp. Although we do river tracing in youth camp, it is in a much smaller river. They got back from their river tracing trip in time for a late lunch and rest hour, so they spent the remainder of the day at sports. Today, this was ultimate frisbee.
Tonight, we are having our weekly party night. Counselors set up carnival type games and the camper get to compete. It ends with a big dance party before we send them off to bed.
That is all for tonight. Be sure to check out the photos.
