The weather is continuing to cooperate with us so far. It has been another beautiful sunny day here.
We continued with our regular rotations of activities today. When all the campers have tried each activity one time, we will move to free choice activities. This means that the campers will get to choose their favorite activities to do again. This will begin tomorrow afternoon.
Today the youth camp color teams had the following activities:
Red team: Cooperative games, climbing, and archery
Orange team: Table-top games, cooperative games, and climbing
Light blue team: Archery, pond play, and table-top games
Green team: pond play, table-top games, cooperative games.
For our final activity period today, we had our first "wide game." These are games that all the campers play together. Our wide game today was a game called Rainbow tag. In this game, campers are assigned to teams and given a colored bandana which they hang from their pocket. Campers must then capture other campers by grabbing their bandanas. However, they must catch people in the sequence of the colors of the rainbow. For example, if a camper has a red bandana, they would have to get orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and finally red in that order. They get a colored stripe on their arm for each bandana captured.
The teens had a big day today. This was their day to go kayaking at the beach. They split into two groups and half went down in the morning and half went for the afternoon. They have half a day of kayaking and general beach fun. This is one of the highlights of teen camp and is enjoyed by everyone. When they were not at the beach, they were doing giant swing and crafts.
It has been a fun day and everyone looks tired. This evening, we will have our movie night, so everyone can have a bit of a much needed rest.
That is all for today. Be sure to check out the pictures.
