We had a great campfire last night. It is kind of hard to take pictures in the low light, but I managed to get a couple. The kids really seemed to have a good time. With such a small group, it was possible to just let the kids sit around the fire and tell stories and such, which is more like a traditional campfire. It was quite a nice evening.

It rained quite a lot in the night, but the tents are completely weatherproof, so that wasn't a problem. It was still raining this morning, which was a little inconvenient. However, we were able to switch the activities around a bit. We did archery for our first period, which is somewhat under cover.

The rain had tapered off by the second period, and the kids went river tracing. The river is just a very small one, but the kids all seemed to have a good time. When they came back, we got them warmed up with a brief hot shower before lunch.

This afternoon, they got to try the Giant swing for the first period. For this activity, one person is suspended from a cable. The remaining campers have to pull them into the air. The person on the swing has control, and can say stop at any time. They then pull a release and fly through the air.

Finally, we spent some time shrimping for the ecology section. This is always best after the rain. There are numerous little pools and streams around camp, and after a shower, they are teeming with critters. It is nice to see the kids have time to explore on their own.

They are just finishing dinner now. This evening, we have a fun game planned. A counselor sits blindfolded on a chair in a dark room. Around him (or her) are scattered objects that are likely to make some noise, such as plastic bottles filled with rocks or with bells attached. Campers have to take turns trying to get the items out of the circle without the counselor tagging them with a beam of light from a flashlight. It is good fun and takes some strategy.

Have a good evening. Like last night, there is a link below with photos. Please be sure to download any you wish to keep.
