The movie last night was great. We watched Shrek 2, which is a classic, and the best of the Shrek movies. The dining hall was continuously erupting in laughter the whole time.
The weather has been pretty typical Taiwan weather this week. It is nice in the morning, with showers in the afternoon, requiring us to make a few changes to our schedule. Today, the teams had the following activities.
Red Team: Sports and Table-Top Games in the morning and Cooperative Games in the afternoon
Orange Team: Climbing and Archery in the morning, and Frisbee Golf in the afternoon
Blue Team: Archery and Frisbee Golf in the morning and Table-Top Games in the afternoon.
This afternoon, Red Team's cooperative games and Blue Team's Table-Top Games were indoor activities, but the Orange team's Frisbee Golf game got cut short by a brief storm. They came up to the dining hall to join the Blue Team for Table-Top Games.
Our final activity period was our weekly water wide game. It was still raining off and on, but since it was a water wide game, the rain didn't really matter.
Today’s water game was Castle-Rush. Colored balls representing medicine were scattered throughout camp, and the campers were split into two teams. Their goal was to collect as much medicine as possible and safely deliver it back to their team’s castle. Along the way, counselors were stationed around camp armed with water, ready to spray or splash anyone carrying a ball. If a camper got wet before reaching the castle, they had to drop the medicine and head off to find another one.
The rain changed the nature of the game a little. Getting sprayed or splashed by the counselors wasn't quite as fun or traumatic depending on your point of view. On the other hand, kids don't very often get the chance to just go out in the rain and have fun.
This evening, we have our Party Night. This is a favorite activity of many of the returning campers. The counselors dress up in costumes and run games similar to what you would see in an American carnival or Taiwanese Night Market. The campers are given tokens that they can use to play the games. There is also a DJ that will take song requests. At the end of the night, it turns into a big dance party.
