Session 2 Day 4

Our Movie Night last night was a great success. We watched the movie Brave, which aligns nicely with our Medieval theme. The campers really needed a quiet evening to recharge. A few of the kids even fell asleep. You could sense the renewed energy in the campers at breakfast this morning.

We have really been lucky with the weather. It was another beautiful day here at camp. Clear skies for most of the day, and hot. This works out well because today was our water-wide-game, but more about that later.

The campers had the following activities today.

Red Team: Frisbee Golf and Table-top games in the morning and Cooperative Games in the afternoon.

Orange Team: Climbing and archery in the morning, and Frisbee golf in the afternoon.

Blue Team: Archery and Frisbee golf in the morning, and table-top games in the afternoon.

Green Team: Cooperative games and climbing in the morning, and archery in the afternoon.

The teens had another big day today with their big-river tracing trip. As the name suggests, this river is bigger than the small river that the youth campers go in. There are some more challenging spots and there are some pools that are big enough to jump into and swim a little bit.

The big-river trip takes more than half a day, so they have a late lunch and a longer rest period and just one afternoon period.

Today the teens and youth campers joined together in our water wide-game. Today's game was Castle-Rush. There are colored balls spread around camp that represent medicine. All the campers are divided into 2 teams, and they have to move as many balls to their castle as they can without getting sprayed or splashed by a counselor. If they get sprayed, they have to drop the ball and go find another. Of course, most of the campers just gather around the counselors to get sprayed. As I mentioned, this is the perfect thing for a hot day.

Tonight, we will have our Party Night. This is always one of the highlights of the week, especially for returning campers. The counselors dress up as carnival workers and operate a variety of game booths inspired by an American carnival and a Taiwanese night market. Campers receive tokens that they can use to try the different games and win prizes. Later in the evening, the lights go down, the music gets louder, and the carnival turns into a lively all-camp dance party.

That is all for tonight. Please see the Dropbox link below for pictures.
